Graphic Design: Mariano Pascual
When prompted for a design project entitled '36 Days of Type' Argentinian + Barcelona-based illustrator, Mariano Pascual, responded with an alphabet typeface inspired by 80's Memphis style. The letters he designed contain speckled surfaces and incorporate dilapidated and corrosive materials with a colorful, animated twist. Splatters, drips, bumps, and other deconstructed subjects -- including ragged and worn mattresses used for the letter 'X' -- create a compelling take on the classic Memphis style and showcase how flawed and unorthodox components can be reassessed and utilized to create innovative typography.
